Part / Whole 1

I enjoyed repeating my drawing in Deb's class and decided to continue with that to see what would happen.  I enjoy drawing nude figures.  It feels like something more is at stake for me- like I better be careful and respectful of the figure I am drawing because s/he is naked.

Part/ Whole

The prompt this week made me think of images as being part of a whole.  Also I was thinking of Andrea's drawing in class where she drew her repetition of tulips inside of grid, so I decided to draw some heads in a grid.  Then I thought of the drawings I posted yesterday and I decided to do one of those again. I really enjoy drawing with my non-dominant hand.  I enjoy the lack of control and the kind of line that it creates.  The unsteady, vulnerable hand that I can't control reminds me of the tenderness of being close and connected to  another.

Texture of different materials

When drawing in class today I thought a lot about how each of the drawing materials created a different texture. I was so glad to spend this time with all of you.

Feather Texture

It was so wonderful sharing a meal with all of you last night. It was really helpful for me to remember WHY I love drawing everyday and to hear about everyone's drawing experience. I woke up this morning thinking about texture and wondered about all the many textures around me. I was reminded of this video that I made earlier this year. My pillows were falling apart so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to play with the feathers. I loved touching the feathers and I wanted to make a video that conveyed the pleasure of this feeling and the lightness of the feathers. I understand and appreciate texture through touch.

Some words- in process

This is a video I made a while ago that I never finished. I am having trouble deciding if there should be sound or maybe different sound than I have or perhaps silence. And I am also not sure if the figure should have a background or just be on blue space. And....I wonder if the words are interesting. Do they seem like enough? Are they the right words?
If anyone has any thoughts I would be happy to hear them. Thanks!
