Saint Joseph

This is a drawing of a bulto (religious devotional object) from New Mexico. I really loved discovering these bultos when I was in New Mexico and particularly enjoyed the attention to detail of these wood carvings.

Floating in Blue

I don't know why the background looks purple.  In Photoshop it looks blue, but the blog makes it purple. Strange.

Blue face

My new printer and scanner are broken so I am photographing the drawings with my iphone for now. Hopefully I will have it fixed soon.

Yesterday I drew with chalk and today I drew with pastels. I am enjoying working with different materials. I played with the image in photoshop to see what I could do with it.

Undergound community

This drawing was inspired by the underground cities in Cappadocia, Turkey.  On one hand, it was very frightening and claustrophobic  to walk through the small, enclosed spaces that make up these large, multi-level cities that extended deep into the ground and on the other hand there was something intriguing about them.

Organizing things

It is interesting for me to see how my boundaries in these drawings are all about organizing things.  They are very simple, useful and make things clear.  That is different than how I considered boundaries in the past.

Purple guy in magic bubble

This week the prompt is "boundary".  The magic bubble is the boundary for the purple guy.
