This drawing was inspired by the underground cities in Cappadocia, Turkey. On one hand, it was very frightening and claustrophobic to walk through the small, enclosed spaces that make up these large, multi-level cities that extended deep into the ground and on the other hand there was something intriguing about them.
i feel claustrophobic just looking at the drawing! hard to breathe. how incredible you walked thru this maze of levels. how incredible people built this!!!!
ReplyDeletei felt sad looking at this drawing, thinking about the content - people confined, trapped, tangled up in these small spaces. the drawing itself, though, is wonderful and expressive and captures the confinement beautifully. And a wonderfully expressive drawing makes me feel so good.
